 Habit: Broadly conical. Fruits: Small, globose to ovoid cones. Green, turning brown when ripe. Leaves: Deciduous, alternate, linear, soft, flattened. Fresh green, turning gold in late autumn. Bark: Stringly. Pale red-brown. Native Habitat: Swamps and stream sides in S.E.United States. Cultivation: Thrives in waterlogged conditions and in deep, moisture-retentive soils. Propagation: By seed in autumn or spring or by cuttings of current year's growth in late summer.
