Description -
 Habit: Narrowly conical. Fruits: Oblong, upright cones, to 1cm long. Yellow-green, brown when ripe. Leaves: Aromatic, very small, scale-like, on flattened shoots, in flat sprays. Dark green above, paler beneath. Bark: Peeling in strips. Orange-brown. Native Habitat: Mountain slopes and swamps of E.North America. Cultivation: Grow in any but waterlogged soil. Tolerates clipping and may be used for hedging. Plant several for hedging at 60cm (20in) apart. Clip in spring and early autumn. T.accidentalis is slower growing as a hedge then the more commonly used leyland cypress but is beautifully scented, with a fresh, apply like smell. Propagation: By softwood cuttings in summer or by heeled greenwood cuttings in late summer.
