Habit: Dense, broadly spreading. Flowers: Small, urn-shaped, in pendent clusters in autumn. White. Fruits: Small, strawberry-like red. Leaves: Evergreen, elliptic to oblong, toothed. Glossy dark green. Native Habitat: Thickets and rocky places in S.W. Ireland and the Mediaterranean. Cultivation: Tolerates lime, but prefers a deep, fertile, humus-rich soil. Shelter from wind. Propagation: By seed in autumn or by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.
